ST Blend Words and Practice

The letters s and t form a consonant blend where both /s/ and /t/ are distinctly heard and pronounced. ST can appear at the beginning (stop, stem, step) or at the end (best) of words.

Canonical ST Decodable Words

Notice that stop has an initial ST blend, while best has a final ST blend. In Elkonin sound boxes, s and t occupy separate individual boxes because each letter makes its own sound.
